SUMMARY:Dancing Conversations: Lil Buck\, Jon Boogz\, and Third Coast Percussion
DESCRIPTION:Join the George Mason University Center for the Arts and the National Center for Choreography at The University of Akron (NCCAkron) for a panel discussion with Grammy® Award-winning Third Coast Percussion’s David Skidmore and Movement Art Is’ Lil Buck and Jon Boogz. This live conversation will focus on Metamorphosis\, a dynamic artistic collaboration through the blending of street dance and percussion music. \nModerated by NCCAkron Executive/Artistic Director Christy Bolingbroke\, choreographers Buck and Boogz will share their creative process and approach alongside Skidmore in this panel discussion unpacking the opportunities and discoveries made when dance and music artists collaborate. The panel discussion will feature video excerpts from Metamorphosis\, including Sunny X—a new dance/music piece originally co-commissioned by the Center for the Arts. \nThis free and open conversation is a part of Third Coast Percussion’s time as virtual Mason Artists-in-Residence. \nRegistration for the event is not required\, but if you RSVP HERE you will be sent a reminder with details for how to watch prior to the event. This conversation will be streamed simultaneously on GMU CFA’s website\, Facebook and YouTube at the scheduled time. This video will be viewable until January 14\, 2021. \nThis event is made possible in part through an NCCAkron Satellite Residency and the Mason Artist-in-Residence program. \nThis project is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and by Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington\, with additional support from the Elizabeth F. Cheney Foundation and the Julian Family Foundation. \n\n
