The Wire
Featuring two single-movement works by renowned composer Donnacha Dennehy, including "Surface Tension", which Dennehy composed for Third Coast Percussion.
The album is named for the two compositions featured on the recording -- “Surface Tension,” which is performed by Chicago-based, GRAMMY® winning percussion quartet Third Coast Percussion, and “Disposable Dissonance,” which is performed by the Dublin-based and internationally renowned Crash Ensemble, which Dennehy founded.
“Surface Tension” was commissioned by the University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is dedicated to Third Coast Percussion, and inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection of historic percussion instruments.
